What Are You Doing Today?

She looked at the time and 45 minutes had passed since she sat down. She sighed, discouraged. Because of her busy life she only has 2 hours everyday to work her business. Yet every night, the same thing happened.

She sat in front of her computer, starring at the phone and 1 hour later, she still hadn’t done anything. The worse was that, she did not know what to do. I mean, she knew what she was supposed to do, but she never seemed to be able to do what she knew she should do.

What are you doing today? You can probably relate; it doesn’t matter how many times you have heard the saying “spend 80% of your time on what matters”. You always find yourself spending 80% of your time, well, doing nothing. It’s not that you don’t want to do something; it’s just that, when it’s time to do the work, you don’t know what to do first, where to start, and you don’t even know how to do it.

What Are You Doing Today?

You have probably heard that successful people do what needs to be done when it needs to be done. What you may not realize is that it doesn’t just happen. The reason they can do is because they have learned a long time before that making the decision to do something and do it are two worlds apart. If you want to do what you plan to do, you have to plan it.

Earl Nightingale, in his classic Lead the Field, talks about the $25,000 idea. In order to be more effective and actually do what you know you should do and want to do, write down, in order of priority, the six most important things you must accomplish the next day. Then start with the first one until it is done before moving to the next. If you cannot complete it for reasons outside your control, then leave it at that and move to the next on the list.

By writing down you list of priority in order, you will always know what you should be doing. By completing one task at a time, you will develop the habit of always finishing what you start. This habit will make you highly effective and organized. It will take the chaos in your mind away and free you to focus on getting things done.

Take the time to build the habit, and before long you will be as successful as you wish to be. For more tips on how to be a better marketer, download our free audio.
