How Will You Get Where You Are going?

Chuck clicked on confirm and stretched himself. He had a grin on is face. “YES! He said to his wife, we are going to Australia. We are leaving in 20 days exactly and will be there the next day. I say we get ready.”

And so Chuck and his wife began planning their trip and dreaming about all the fun stuff they were going to do in Australia. They had never been there, but they’d heard it was very beautiful. They could not wait to escape the cold Ohio weather for the Australian Summer. To say they were excited was an understatement.

How will you get where you are going? For Chuck, the answer was very simple he had bought a plane ticket that will land him in Australia. All he needed to do was to go to the airport and catch the flight.

And that’s what they did. There was only one major problem; Chuck had booked the flight from the wrong city. You see, Check used to live in Missouri and he loved it there. In his mind he was always there and one day would get back there for sure.

So when he went to buy a flight for one the biggest adventure of his life, he thought he was in Missouri. The plan to go where he wanted was good. The only problem was that he did not know where he was.

How will get where you are going if you don’t know where you are? You have probably spent a lot of time planning your goal. You sometimes go back and relive the great life and successes you used to have. Unless you carefully consider where you are right now, your plan will not work.

The map is only useful if you are right on departure position. Planning to go from point A to point B when you are actually at Point C will only take you to the wrong airport. It does not matter how prepared you are, you will miss the flight.

Spend some time analyzing your current situation, not to feel sorry about yourself, but to gain an objective assessment of your position. Only then, will you be ready to plan how you will get where you are going.
