“Without a vision, the people perish.” This quote from the Bible can be applied to your business; without a vision your business will perish. Yet many entrepreneurs go into business without a clear vision.

The next best thing to having a vision before starting your business is to create one as soon as you realize you need it. So, how do you create a vision for your business?

There are many great resources to help you create a vision and I recommend you read them. I’d like to share with you a simple childlike technique to create great vision that will motivate you into action faster than reading most books.

How Do You Create A Vision For Your Business?

Make up a story. Yes that’s right, make up a story. Do you remember how as a child you used to make up stories? Unbeknown to you, you were making use of one of the greatest qualities you can possess as a visionary leader; your imagination.

Your childlike imagination is full of unexplored resources that can take you to unexpected places if you would allow yourself to use it. The key to a powerful vision is a no limit imagination and as a child that’s exactly what you did.

Think about what you would like to create and make a story that resonates with you. Try out different sides of the stories until you find the one that gets you excited a lot and a little scared, then go out and make that story happen.

When the story is clear in your mind, you can communicate it easily to anyone. If you find yourself unable to make up your story, it is because you have “grown-up” thoughts. You think it is ridiculous or that it will never happen or any other excuse you can come up with.

Without a vision, you lack purpose. Without purpose, you have no focus. Without focus, you will not achieve anything that you are truly proud. It all begins with a dream, a dream you make up in your imagination. Then you transform that dream into reality by sharing it with others and doing what needs to be done.
